iPad Pro 10.5 inch (2017)

After some careful contemplation, I decided it was time for me to get a new iPad. I already use the iPad Pro 12.9 inch (2016) at work. However, I wanted something lighter for home use. I wanted a device that I can easily hold in my hands as I browse the web and read all kinds of stories, without having to feel like I was carrying a massive screen with me at all times.
Best Buy had a fantastic sale for Black Friday, so I figured now is my time to get one of the shiny new iPads! I saw a demo unit at Costco and I really liked the smooth 120 Hz screen refresh rate. Even my ancient monitor at home only goes up to 60 Hz! The colors always appear a little vibrant, although I have not done the research as to weather that is a software or hardware improvement.
I also used the Apple Pencil to do some light sketching the Paper app. I noticed that the responsiveness is far greater than that of the older iPad Pro 12.9 inch (2016). Other than that, the performance appeared the same, although I am sure that if I did some bench-marking, the numbers would be higher. The ultra smooth scrolling though of the 10.5 inch makes webpages move along swiftly and I feel that it makes a difference in day to day use.
Overall, I think it is a great iPad and if you can find it for under $600 (as of the writing of this review) I think that it is a tremendous value, especially if you don't have any other Pro devices. It is great for every day use, watching movies, surfing the web, reading books and sites, gaming and even doing some work, although it could not replace my Macbook Pro yet because it lacks app that currently work on MacOS. Still, I am very happy with my purchase and anticipate using the iPad for many years to come (unless it gets throttled iPhone style ;-)
